Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer - Volverán las oscuras golondrinas

Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer
Volverán las oscuras golondrinas
    Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer
The dark swallows will return

Volverán las oscuras golondrinas   The dark swallows will return
en tu balcón sus nidos a colgar,   to build their nests on your balcony,
y otra vez con el ala a sus cristales   and once more in their play they will knock
jugando llamarán;   on the balcony windows with their wings;

pero aquéllas que el vuelo refrenaban   but those ones who refrained their flight
tu hermosura y mi dicha a contemplar,   to see your beauty and my happiness,
aquellas que aprendieron nuestros nombres...   those ones who learnt our names...
ésas... ¡no volverán!   those... those will not return!

Volverán las tupidas madreselvas   The massed honeysuckles will return
de tu jardín las tapias a escalar,   to climb up the walls of your garden,
y otra vez a la tarde, aun más hermosas,   and at evening once again, even lovelier,
sus flores se abrirán;   their blossoms will open out;

pero aquellas cuajadas de rocío,   but those ones that were soaked in dew,
cuyas gotas mirábamos temblar   whose drops we watched tremble
y caer, como lágrimas de día...   and fall, like daytime tears...
ésas... ¡no volverán!   those... those will not return!

Volverán de amor en tus oidos   The burning words of love
las palabras ardientes a sonar;   will sound in your ears again;
tu corazón, de su profundo sueño   your heart will awaken, perhaps,
tal vez despertará;   from its heavy sleep;

pero mudo y absorto y de rodillas,   but mute and engrossed and kneeling,
como se adora a Dios ante su altar,   just as God is adored before his altar,
como yo te he querido... desengáñate:   the way I loved you... don't deceive yourself:
¡así no te querrán!   you won't be loved like that again!

I think there is a mistake in your "Volverán" translation. You say:

"they will knock
on their windows with their wings;"

Whose windows? The balcony's. You make it sound as if the windows, too, belonged to those swallows. In English it would be "the balcony window", but in (spoken) Spanish it is "del" and "su".

Thank you very much.

I had a very hard time translating this damn "volverán".

U can translate "volveran" in some different ways, as i see it the finest way should be the shortest, or the more dramatic way to say it on english, since the "No volverán!" has to be like a dramatic, sudden interjection, here some other options:

They won´t ever come back
Those... won´t Return
those... Won´t ever return

or sth like that, try to make it sound like a dramatic expression more than a "accurate translation"

and once more in their play they will knock on the balcony windows with their wings;

"on the balcony windows" sounds strange.could be possible to say just "they will knock the windows"?

cause say "the balcony windows" sounds like a redundance
